Kyle Carpenter, a retired marine corporal and Medal of Honor recipient, is facing charges after a hit-and-run in South Carolina.
The 26-year-old turned himself into authorities after they say he made an improper left turn striking a pedestrian on Dec. 8. The pedestrian, who was walking on a crosswalk when he was hit, was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
According to surveillance video, Carpenter stopped his car after hitting the man but then left the scene after the victim stood up and walked away. (Video via CBS)
Carpenter appeared in court Thursday and was released on bond. He received the Medal of Honor in 2014 after he placed himself in front of a grenade in Afghanistan to protect a fellow Marine.
