Arlington National Cemetery is closing to visitors as a precautionary measure in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Officials say the decision will be continually assessed, but was made in order to protect the health of cemetery employees, families and visitors.

Scheduled funerals will still take place, and the cemetery will be open to family members of those who are buried there, but only for designated visitation hours.

Families who do come to the cemetery for scheduled funerals are being asked to remain in their vehicles when they arrive into the designated queuing lanes.

The cemetery joins the growing list of locations across the country that are closing or adjusting their access.
