A helicopter crash that killed seven U.S. service members in western Iraq earlier this year was caused by pilot error.
An investigation conducted by the U.S. Air Force determined the pilot "misinterpreted aircraft navigation displays," and that caused him to overfly the intended destination.
From there, the helicopter hit and got tangled in a steel cable strung between two towers, which resulted in "catastrophic damage."
Four flight crew members and three pararescuemen were killed in the crash. No civilians were hurt, and there wasn't any damage to private property.
