More than 75,000 pounds of packaged salad have been recalled because of a possible E. coli contamination.

Health officials are investigating the source of an E. coli outbreak that has infected at least 17 people in eight states. The CDC says seven of those people were hospitalized.

Missa Bay issued the voluntary recall for more than 30 of its salad products after Maryland health officials identified E. coli in a package of Ready Pac Foods Bistro Chicken Caesar Salad purchased by one of the people who got sick.

All of the recalled products include lettuce from the same lot that was used in the tainted Caesar salad product. They were made from Oct. 14 through Oct. 16 and were shipped to 22 states.

The USDA says people who purchased the now-recalled products should either throw them out or return them to a store.
