Police are now searching for four teenage boys they say shot and injured a teacher during an attempted robbery at a high school in Fresno, California Thursday night.

“Steve Guerrero was in a classroom when four men came into the room. One of them threatened Guerrero with a gun. The two struggled over the gun. Guerrero was shot twice, once in the stomach and once in the leg.” (Via KGPE)

The teens confronted Guerrero, who teaches part time as athletic trainer, in an unlocked classroom and demanded his laptop. Police say Guerrero let them take the computer until one of the teens threw a 25-pound weight at the teacher’s head. (Via KSEE)

That’s when Guerrero began to fight back—an act police called heroic.

"He did something that was above and beyond his normal job and made a decision to fight when he believed that he or others … could've been seriously injured or killed." (Via Fresno Bee)

KFSN reports security cameras did capture the suspects. Police are looking at that tape.

But as of right now, officers do not have a good description of the suspects. Guerrero said he had never seen them before. The boys are thought to be between 16 and 20-years-old.

Guerrero did undergo surgery following the shooting, but is expected to make a full recovery. Police are offering a $2,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest.
