Special counsel Robert Mueller's team is recommending jail time for former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos.
In a court filing Friday, prosecutors asked a judge to sentence Papadopoulos to up to six months in prison for lying to investigators.
Papadopoulos pleaded guilty last year to lying to the FBI about his contacts with pro-Russia sources.
Prosecutors claim his "false statements were intended to harm the investigation, and did so."
Papadopoulos is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court Sept. 7.
