A Pennsylvania teen is recovering after a run-in with a bear that nearly tore off her ear.

18 year-old Camille Bomboy was hunting for deer on a family farm Monday. She reportedly got between a black bear and three cubs. Then, ABC reports – (Via WPVI)

“That bear attacked, bit her on both arms and her chest and scratched her head.”

Bomboy’s stepbrother explains to WNEP, he and his father heard screaming. So his dad fired a warning shot into the air, which scared the bear off.

As for Bomboy, Daily Mail reports, “Describing the terrifying attack, Camille said that all she could do was to 'cover my eyes and scream and pray and hope everything would be ok.'”

She is now out of the hospital recovering from her wounds, including one that almost cost her an ear. The bear, however, is still in the woods.

Mike Ondik, a wildlife conservation officer tells WTAJ –

“I haven’t ever had any other maulings or runnings overs or whatever this was.”

Wildlife experts tell ABC, black bears are normally as much afraid of you as you are of them. But it is normal for a bear to attack if someone gets too close to her cubs. (Via Wikimedia Commons)

Bomboy has reportedly had her hunting license since she was 12 years old, and she’s not ruling out a return to the woods just yet.
