At least 15 people are dead after heavy rains brought flash floods and mudslides to parts of Southern California.

At least 15 people have died from mudslides in Southern California, Santa Barbara County officials said.

Heavy rains Tuesday brought flash flooding and mudslides to areas already devastated by wildfires in December.

Some parts of Ventura County got more than 5.5 inches of rain over two days.

Officials say rescue crews are having a difficult time getting to the hundreds of people stuck in their homes because of debris deposited by the mudslides and floods.

A fire crew toldABC News that many more people are unaccounted for and feared dead.

The total amount of damage is still unclear.
