With heavy storms hitting St. Petersburg, Florida, one couple's lawn has been a pair of manatees' new favorite meal.
Nancy Smith told Newsy's partners at WFTS on Monday that for two days, the manatees swam over a sea wall and into her and her husband's yard at 10 a.m. to munch on her grass.
The video Smith posted to Instagram immediately drew internet fame.
"Everyone loves manatees. They're gentle giants," Smith told WFTS.
It's a good thing Smith doesn't have a problem with the sea cows, seeing as the tide is supposed to stay high through Tuesday. Heavy rain caused it to raise a foot higher than normal, helping the manatees cross the sea wall.
The manatees might have been one of the nicer fallouts from the storm, though. Tropical Storm Colin started hitting St. Petersburg on Monday and has caused flooding, power outages and wind damage.
