Millions of people in Texas and Louisiana are bracing for even more possible flooding this weekend.

The Houston area was hit with heavy rains Thursday night. The onslaught of water caused rivers and bayous to flow over their banks. Many roads and highways flooded, trapping drivers in their cars and prompting water rescues by local emergency crews.

In Louisiana, some residents north of Shreveport rescued each other this week after water rushed into their neighborhoods.

The National Weather Service issued flash flood watches for a swath of the Gulf Coast, including the southeast portion of Texas, all of Louisiana and most of Mississippi.
