Travelers heading to China could face quarantine if they come from countries with a high number of coronavirus cases.
According to Chinese state media, travelers coming from Italy, Iran, Japan or South Korea will have to undergo a two-week quarantine once they arrive in Beijing. Similar measures are also being undertaken in Shanghai and the Guangdong province.
Although the number of coronavirus cases and related deaths in China exceeds every other country, the number of new daily infections has slowed down in recent days. According to the World Health Organization, China reported 129 cases in the last 24 hours — its lowest number since the agency began taking count in January. Meanwhile, nearly 2,000 new cases have been reported outside the country, with 80% of them in Iran, South Korea and Italy.
