Divers have lost the signal of the voice recorder from the Indonesian plane that crashed into the sea last week with 189 people on board.

That's just a day after authorities said they had heard the signal and confirmed the location of the main body of the plane.

Search teams found the flight data recorder on Thursday, and investigators have downloaded 69 hours of flight data from it. The device will help determine why the plane went down — which, up until now, has been unclear.

Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency confirmed on Friday that a veteran diver on the team had died.

The new Boeing 737 disappeared from radars Monday morning. The plane reportedly made a request to head back to base shortly after takeoff but didn't send out any distress signals.

Rescue teams have recovered some bodies, victims' belongings and pieces of debris from the plane. No survivors have been found.
