Dozens of people have been killed in the French city of Nice during Bastille Day celebrations. Witnesses say a white truck drove into a crowd watching a fireworks display.
A journalist on the scene said the truck "drove onto the promenade and ploughed into the crowd. There is a huge amount of blood and without doubt a lot of people have been hurt."
Video on social media shows crowds running in the aftermath. According to numerous reports, the truck driver and police exchanged gunfire after the attack. The French Interior Minister says the driver has since been "neutralized."
Police and the mayor of Nice have advised people to stay in their homes for now while the crash is investigated. The actual death toll is currently fluctuating somewhere between 30 and 60, with more than 100 people reported injured.
