Reuters: EU Antitrust Regulators Investigating Google Data Collection

Google has been fined by EU regulators several times.

Reuters is reporting that EU antitrust regulators are investigating Google's data collection practices. The European Commission confirmed the information to the news organization on Saturday.

An executive said the EU is looking into "how and why" the company collects data, specifically related to "local search services, login services, web browser and others."

Google has been fined by EU regulators several times, perhaps most notably back in June when it was fined $2.7 billion for illegally promoting its own comparison shopping service over search results from competitors. It's the largest penalty the European Commission has ever handed out in that type of antitrust case.
