Spanish authorities say they've killed a man suspected of driving a van into a popular tourist area in Barcelona, Spain.

Police identified the suspected driver as 22-year-old Younes Abouyaaqoub.

The Aug. 17 attack was on Las Ramblas — a mostly pedestrian street.

Thirteen people died in that incident, and more than 100 others were injured.

A second attack happened about 75 miles away in Cambrils on Aug. 18. Similar to what happened in Barcelona, a car drove into a crowd of pedestrians. At least one person died after that attack, and six others were injured.

Police shot and killed five people connected to that later attack. Another four have been arrested in connection with both the Barcelona and Cambrils attacks, which police think are linked.

A house exploded in Alcanar, Spain, on Aug. 16. Police say they believe the people inside were linked with a terrorist cell that carried out the Barcelona and Cambrils attacks. Police say it's possible two people died in the explosion, but those deaths are considered separate from the totals during the two attacks.

Authorities say they think another death is connected to the attacks. They say Abouyaaqoub may have stabbed and killed a man and stolen his car to get away. That would bring the total number of victims to 15.
