Thieves who robbed a museum in Germany have reportedly pulled off "the largest art heist in postwar history," according to police.
The thieves broke into the Green Vault at Dresden's Royal Palace early Monday and stole multiple sets of diamond jewelry.
Police believe the two thieves might have started a fire near the museum, which disabled the museum's security alarms. With those alarms down, the thieves were able to sneak in and out undetected through a window on the first floor of the museum.
Augustus the Strong established the collection housed in the Green Vault in the early 1700s. Part of the castle was destroyed in World War II. The public was once again able to view the collection six decades later when the museum was finally restored.
