More and more people on board a cruise ship in Japan are testing positive for the coronavirus.

The Diamond Princess cruise ship is currently docked in Yokohama, Japan. It's been under quarantine since Feb. 3, after a man who'd traveled on the ship in January tested positive for the virus.

At least 135 people on board the ship are infected with the coronavirus. More than 20 of them are Americans. Everyone who tests positive for the virus is being escorted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The rest of the passengers have been ordered to stay on the ship while Japanese health officials conduct health screenings. So far they've conducted just over 330 screenings – focusing on the elderly and people already showing possible coronavirus symptoms.

But there were more than 3,700 passengers and crew members on board the ship when it began its journey. And Japan's Health Ministry is now considering screening everyone before the 14-day quarantine ends.

But a spokesman for the government told reporters Monday it would be "difficult" to conduct all of those health checks in time.

Japan is only able to run tests for 1,000 people across the country each day.
