President Donald Trump sent North Korean leader Kim Jong-un a personal letter. And Kim is reportedly pretty happy with that letter's contents.
According to North Korean state media, Kim called the letter "excellent," and he said he will "seriously contemplate the interesting content."
Both White House press secretary Sarah Sanders and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed the existence of the letter. Neither U.S. or North Korean officials have revealed details about what it said.
But Pompeo said he hoped it could help "provide a good foundation" for the two countries to continue denuclearization talks.
Both sides have seemingly been deadlocked since President Trump and Kim's Vietnam summit, which ended on a sour note when they couldn't come to an agreement on denuclearization.
But it appears that Kim might be trying to smooth things over. Earlier this month, President Trump said he received a "beautiful letter" from Kim, though he didn't elaborate on what Kim had written. And he told Time magazine last week that he also got a hand-delivered "birthday letter" from Kim.
