Dozens of people are dead after two separate attacks in Pakistan Friday.

Authorities say armed gunmen tried to storm the Chinese consulate in southern Pakistan Friday morning, killing at least seven people. Two civilians, two police officers and three attackers reportedly died during the attack. A militant group from the southwestern province of Baluchistan has claimed responsibility.

And hours later, officials say a suicide bomber killed at least 30 people at a market in the northern part of the country. It's unclear if the two attacks were related, but they highlight the ongoing instability Pakistan continues to face.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan claimed the attacks are QUOTE "part of a planned campaign to create unrest in the country by those who do not want Pakistan to prosper."
