More than 20 Afghans were killed in Islamist militant attacks and suicide bombings Saturday.
ISIS claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing in Kabul that killed three people and wounded several others.
The Taliban said it was behind a raid in the western province of Farah that killed at least 18 soldiers and captured a base there.
Two separate suicide bombings in Helmand province killed at least five people. Voice of America reports the Taliban claimed those attacks as well.
Those provinces will soon see a natural gas pipeline cut through the region, connecting Afghanistan to Turkmenistan, Pakistan and India. Construction on the pipeline in the region started a day before the attacks.
