Miss Ukraine International Calls For Peace, Criticizes Russia In Post

Elena Dunder was crowned Miss Ukraine International 2021. She speaks with Newsy Tonight's Bianca Facchinei about keeping in contact with her family in Odessa, Ukraine. Dunder says she is still planning on attend this year's Miss International Pageant in July and that she is very proud to represent her nation.

"I think our nation is very fearless, very brave, courageous and very strong. And we have never been as united as we are right now," she said. "A real genocide is being committed against my nation right now. Ukraine is a very peaceful, very diplomatic country so this cruelty doesn't make any sense."

Dunder is the founder of a charitable foundation called "The Soul's Beauty." She and her team are working on raising funds to help the people of Ukraine. She says the country is in desperate need of weapons, materials and humanitarian aid.
