An explosion in the Czech Republic has killed Palestinian Ambassador Jamel al-Jamal.

Czech news site Novinky reports the diplomat was home with his family in the capital of Prague when the blast went off.

Now according to CNN's Ram Ramgopal, initial findings don't suggest a terror attack.

But Sky News appeared to cast doubt on that:

"The Palestinian Foreign Ministry explained that it happened when he was trying to open a safe that was recently moved. Sounds extraordinary, doesn't it?"

Al Jazeera reports al-Jamal was taken to a military hospital and put in a medicall -induced coma before he died.

And RT adds, a female relative of the 56-year-old diplomat was taken to the hospital as well, apparently suffering from shock.

The incident is under investigation. Novinky quoted an anonymous source cited as close to the investigation, who says the explosion might have been caused by quote "careless manipulation of a dangerous explosive."
