Joshua Holt is returning to the United States with his wife Thamy after both were jailed for nearly two years in Venezuela.

Sen. Orrin Hatch's office says he, Sen. Bob Corker and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee helped secure the Holts' release.

Hatch represents Utah, Joshua Holt's home state. The senator met with Holt's parents last July and has been working to secure Holt's release for two years.

Holt went to Venezuela in 2016 to marry Thamy. The Venezuelan police claim the couple was stockpiling weapons. The U.S. has called the charges "questionable.

President Donald Trump says he'll meet with Holt on Saturday evening at the White House.
