The U.S. Supreme Court upheld a lower court's redrawing of some North Carolina state legislative districts that were determined to be racially gerrymandered.

But the high court also said in its unsigned opinion Thursday the lower court was wrong to alter several other districts in two counties.

The decision comes just a few days after the Supreme Court sent a dispute over North Carolina's GOP-drawn congressional map back to a lower court for another look.
