The Russian Olympic delegation says a second sample from curler Aleksandr Krushelnitckii tested positive for a banned substance.

The Russian Olympic delegation says a second sample from curler Aleksandr Krushelnitckii has tested positive for a banned substance.

He and his wife won bronze in the mixed doubles curling event at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

But Krushelnitckii is still in danger of losing that medal, especially since he's now reportedly tested positive twice for a heart medicine that's been banned at the Olympics since 2016.

NBC says that second doping test used the same sample as the first to make sure the original result wasn't a false positive.

As Newsy previously reported, the curler's been in Seoul, South Korea, while he waited for the second test.

The Russian delegation will now investigate how the banned substance ended up in Krushelnitckii's system. A delegation spokesman says the athlete tested negative before the Olympics.
