China Says It Will Fight Back Against Proposed US Tariffs

If the Trump administration follows through with plans for an additional $100 billion in tariffs on Chinese goods, China is prepared to make its next move.

At a news conference Friday, a representative for China's Ministry of Commerce said, "We won't start a war, but if someone does, we will definitely fight back."

Which means the U.S. and China's back-and-forth tariff battle might not be over anytime soon.

President Donald Trump's order Thursday to identify additional tariffs was in response to China announcing plans to impose tariffs on $50 billion worth of U.S. goods, including cars and airplanes.

According to The Associated Press, the Chinese commerce ministry representative made it seem unlikely the two sides will negotiate over the tariffs.
