Former gymnast Jade Capua was just one of several women who spoke out against former sports doctor Larry Nassar during his sentencing hearing Tuesday.

"A voice must be heard in order for all these victims of this tragic event to reach a level of closure. Justice must be served," Capua said in court.

Nassar will be sentenced this week on seven first-degree criminal sexual abuse charges. But first, about 88 of his accusers or their representatives are expected to give victim impact statements in court.

He has been accused of sexually assaulting dozens of women and girls, including Olympic gymnasts Aly RaismanMcKayla MaroneyGabby Douglas and, most recently, Simone Biles.

He worked with USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University for nearly three decades before he was fired.

The Michigan Attorney General's Office asked the judge to sentence Nassar to at least 40 years behind bars. Nassar has already been sentenced to 60 years in prison over federal child pornography charges.
