President Trump drew widespread criticism when he went after a federal judge on Twitter for ruling against his immigration ban — even from his own party.

"I think it's best to avoid criticizing judges individually," Sen. Mitch McConnell said on CNN.

That trend has continued. Trump's Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch reportedly called Trump's Twitter tirade "disheartening and demoralizing" in a meeting with Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal.

Trump was clearly unhappy with the Ninth Circuit Court's decision to stall his executive order, tweeting "The opinion of this so-called judge … is ridiculous and will be overturned!" and "If something happens blame him and court system."

That "so-called judge" Trump mentioned is James Robart. He was appointed by president George W. Bush in 2003 and confirmed by the Senate with a 99-0 vote.

The Ninth Circuit Court is still debating the travel ban against refugees and citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries.
