Congress passed a $716 billion defense policy bill on Wednesday which, among other things, raises military pay by 2.6 percent.

It seems to support the Trump administration's past efforts to build up the military. President Donald Trump's 2018 budget also proposed increasing military spending and the size of the overall force.

The John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act passed 87-10 in the Senate. The House passed the bill last week.

One focus of the bill aims to crack down on China's influence in the U.S., including tightening reviews on Chinese investment in America. It doesn't include funding for Trump's proposed Space Force, but it does authorize a military parade he wants later this year.

The bill is now headed to the White House, where President Trump is expected to sign it into law.
